To put it simply, the crowns signify that, though the bride is a handmaid of God, and the groom is a servant, they are now being crowned to symbolize they are King and Queen of the new family and they shall rule it with love, peace and harmony. Thus, wedding crowns have come to signify the fact that if the couple lives their lives in faith, crowns shall await them in the heavenly abode.
