One of the most important things that you will have to do while planning your big day is to hire a wedding vendor. In fact you will not only need to hire one, you will need to hire several. You will need to choose the perfect baker to make your wedding cake, the perfect photographer to capture your day, the perfect DJ to play tunes that will make your guests dance all night, and the list goes on.

There are many things that you could look back on about your wedding day and think, I wish I would have done that differently, or I’m so glad I did that! You may think that you have done enough planning and evaluating and more planning so that nothing can go wrong, but ultimately on your wedding day things are out of your hands and left up to the vendors that you have hired. This is why it is so important to be sure you have a good feeling about every vendor that you choose right from the start.

The follow four tips can help you communicate efficiently with everyone involved in making your wedding successful. 1-Be Respectful of the Vendor’s Time Remember, everyone has a schedule to consider and you are probably not the only bride that the vendor is working with. It’s important when writing emails and placing phone calls to your vendors that you consider their “office” hours and give them enough time to respond to your questions or concerns.

As one who chats with many brides to be, one of the biggest (well justified) rants I hear from them is about wedding vendors who don’t return phone calls and emails promptly–if at all. This is something I hear all too frequently. In fact, the majority of brides write back to me after I’ve responded to their initial inquiry with words to the effect of “thank you for your timely response” or “wow!

My Joke starts…A friend of mine walked into a Vendor’s Hideout the other day, looking for a price. She had an idea of exactly the service she wanted, and how much she should pay for it. As the door struck her in her brains she realized she’d just signed on for $400 more than she had budgeted for that Vendor, and she still wasn’t quite sure what she was getting – she had no better mental picture of the Vendor at work than she did one hour before!
I’ll keep looking.
