Wedding Speech Groom

About the Wedding Speech Groom

There are a lot of resources to help in creating a wedding speech, groom speech, or a speech for anyone else in the wedding party. The web is full of sites that offer advice and examples. Inexpensive books can be bought and a great source of inspiration is to look at videos of wedding speeches on YouTube.

Listen to my advice to not put off your planning because somewhere between when you say "I do" and the wedding reception finally winds down you are going to be expected to give a speech. At one time it was generally enough for the best-man to speak but now both the bride and groom are expected to give nice speeches during the toasts.

Here is some general advice concerning the groom's wedding speech:

Don't say anything nasty or mean-spirited about anyone. A little joke or funny story is fine as long as it isn't a put-down or really embarrassing. Instead your speech is meant to praise many people including your parents, guests and of course your bride.

Keep it short. No one likes long speeches and three to five minutes of well chosen words will be appreciated by everyone. If you have a little outline of the points you want to make that will keep you from stumbling and leaving out thanking someone important.

Stay sober before you speak. Nothing is more embarassing to everyone than the pain of watching any drunken member of the wedding party sluring and stumbling their way through a speech.

Someone is going to shoot a video of what you have to say so choose your words carefully as you may have to try to live them down for the rest of your life. For a lot more ideas and resources on the wedding speech groom click on the link below.
